Decorative or practical canopies draw attention to the desired entrance. If the entrance canopy is sufficiently large then the entrance canopy extends the crossing area in which people move past each other giving practical protection as the doors are negotiated. Canopies are practical to allow passage between zones without additional clothing, preparation and reduces the effect of the weather on adjacent rooms.
